Fuck you, Canadian Club!
I'm glad to see someone else was perturbed about this ad:

http://www.thescotchblog.com/2007/10/your-dad-was-no.html

My feelings are more particular to my own family history.

"DAMN RIGHT YOUR DAD DRANK IT", the ad proclaims. Yes...he did. He drank it, among other things, and he drank until his job, his family and his health were ruined. That's not something I want to be reminded of by advertising.

I'm glad you posted this. My father's generation was a pathetic one, I'm nothing short of happy as a pig in shit taht all traces of it are all but wiped out now.

Yeah my Alcoholic uncle drank enough of this stuff to ruin his life too. He was always good to my brother and I. But as for his own family, well, they didn't do so well for a long time. He had a fridge absolutely covered in the CC stickers. He has been sober for 7 years now and I know has a lot of guilt. Given that his drinking is a big reason his step daughter ran away. Everyone is OK now.

What a shit ad. I mean really, all this push to make Whisky look sophisticated lately and this ad just takes them back past the stone age.

Makes me want to take the ad campaign to work (in the Rahab Centre) and ask my clients to write letters to Canadian Club about their Dads' drinking.

That is so unbelievably wrong that I have to wonder if they're going for the notoriety angle with this campaign.
